Ideas for Spring
Yes, Cleaning!
You won’t want to hear this but you can’t beat sparkling windows and clean interiors! In the dull February days’ it’s well worth having a clean up and a sort out to pave the way for some exciting Spring trends. Whether or not you believe in following trends or just want something to do on a rainy day, the start of a the Spring season is a good time to take stock of what you love about your home and what you wouldn’t mind saying goodbye to, giving to charity shops or selling on the local marketplace sites ensures you recycle and feel good about moving on!
Key colours for Summer 2019
Rich jewel colours are all over the place now and quite honestly make my heart quicken with joy, they work really well as a small feature against neutrals or the greys we have all been using and trying hanging some modern art in an old gold frame on a navy wall, lovely. Paint Spot in Newquay will mix colours that match the Farrow and Ball colour chart, just take the name and number of the colour and they will mix for you, a much cheaper option! Farrow and Ball have brought out nine new colours this season, my favourite being sulking room pink, perfect for bedrooms and romance. Highlighted against the greys I am sure you already have and then buy shiny new copper accessories for a gorgeous new look for just a few pounds.

Plants
I love a quick, cheap and easy addition to a room and house plants are the perfect thing for Spring. There is a big revival in using house plants and a number of health benefits too, think air purification. Group a little collection together of 3 (use odd numbers in interior collections) different sizes and types, use a collection of containers in the same shade to add a feature to a dull corner. There are also some great books around now on how to look after them so the dead spider plant on your office desk is a thing of the past and who doesn’t like some new books casually left on the coffee table for curious visitors!

Coastal Trends for 2019
Living in Newquay I am a complete devotee of the Coastal look but sometimes feel the classic blue and white can look a little dated. There are some beautiful home accessories on the market now which pay homage to the coastal trend but offer something a bit different, think texture! Wicker, global fabrics, Mexican prints, slubby linens and coloured stripes will all add something special to your coastal holiday property or that lounge with the wonderful sea view.

And don’t forget, Pinterest can absorb you for hours (or is that just me)?……..just grab a coffee, a cupcake and curl up in a cosy armchair….Happy Cleaning!
